NCO Financial Systems

In case you are getting calls from the wonderful people at NCO Financial Systems. You should read some messages people have posted about this company. Apart from having to pay $1.5 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), there are also many many claims of state and federal violations of legislation like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The company purchases old debt from people like your cellphone provider, hospitals and the government for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect it. You may have even already paid the bill, like I had, but that is really a minor irrelevant point. The reality is, much if not most of this debt is so old noone has any obligation to repay any of it, least of all not to NCO. Many people have been harassed for debt belonging to neighbors, relatives, old residents of the same address, and co-workers. Don’t pay NCO a penny.

If you receive letters or phone calls from NCO or phone numbers like
800-709-8625 or 888-804-3488 or 877-803-8009 or 800-541-2742 or 888-688-7929 or 800-445-4918 or 866-569-8956 or 800-218-1175 or 800-448-9576 or 800-684-8429 or 866-429-3592 or 800-976-8307 or 877-871-6484 or 800-735-6588 or 800-220-1942 or 877-778-1799 or 800-227-4000 or 800-807-7809 or 866-626-9112 or 866-425-8131 or 800-967-4100 or 877-252-4534 or 877-202-9074 or 888-691-8955 or 888-259-3021 or 800-437-7403 or
800-383-4761 or 866-360-9791 you should read this page about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If NCO does anything wrong with you, you could be entitled to $1000 per infraction and they may have to pay your lawyer and possibly even your debt.

To halt their “contact”, send NCO a certified, return-receipt cease and desist letter (they throw away all faxes and non-certified letters). A sample letter might read (though, you must seek real legal advice, which I’m not):

This is to advise you that pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) 15 USC 1692c(c), you are hereby notified to immediately terminate any contact with me, or any members of my family or household, regarding any matter concerning the collection of a debt you allege is owed to your company or to your principal/customer/client. This notice shall include, but is not limited to written correspondence, as well as telephonic communication. This letter also verifies that I live at the address above, therefore, any further locator attempts would be a violation of the FDCPA.

Is NCO calling you? Do you have a new NCO phone number or information? Please leave a comment and share it with the rest of us. Thanks!

NCO may or may not report your debt dispute with them on your credit report. It is important to make sure that if NCO puts anything on your credit report, all of the information is accurate, such as date of debt, last activity on account and the correct amount. That information is not always placed on all three major reports and your valid creditors usually only check one of these sources, so make sure you check all three (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) for correct information.

Oh, and Miss Hill, thanks for calling ;)

Important! File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General – easy online form (NCO is a PA company and PA is investigating NCO)

P.S. The Pennsylvania Attorney General recently finished a big case against them, though the complaints continue.

  1. NCO Financial Services keeps calling trying to collect a debt for someone with a similar name. They never leave a message but the two times I’ve picked up by mistake they were very aggressive. I’ve blocked the number but even if this was a real debt, I’d never give any money to these criminals. The FDCPA makes it clear that these low-lives are breaking the law by harassing for old or non-existent debt…and the Internet makes it clear that they don’t honor the deals they offer you to settle debt. Give them nothing…

  2. Just got called at 2:04 PM from 877-273-3495. First time called so I will keep watching out considering all of the comments.

  3. I get calls on my house phone from NCO and its 1-866-853-4965
They are not even looking for me, but just keep on keeping on harassing me.
guess since Im disabled and fighting cancer- i can file a complaint or just change my number. they are wasting their time calling wrong person- idiots!

  4. Hi my name is Justin and NCO’s number I got is 800-824-9392. I had a debt with Military Star card and a few miss payments and stopped receiving notices in the mail from AAFES and I got out of the military. Never received any more notifications and thought on the way out with my seperation pay I paid them… I guess not they offset my taxes in 2012 and paid them around 2,000 and before then I guess I owed them 4,000 so that dropped down to 2,600 and something. They than slapped wage garnishments on me and I filed my 2013 taxes and Jackson Hewitt confirmed that it will be offsetted again and I called them about it and now I owe them 3,100 and I am wondering how I owe them that much after months of Garnished wages and they said my company did not garnish any more wages sense Januaray which I paid them $78 dollars… So now I am stuck in a rut in trying to get them to send me notices so I can add them to my consolidation firm but they told me they sent out 6 notices and bill to my current address and I still yet to receive them…. Now they refuse to fax me anything but payment history and I gave them my fax number and still waiting on that report… Cause I want verification I been scammed before over the phone and refuse to be scammed again…. JUst frusterated and confuesed on how these people are still in buisness with all these complaints and what not… I am not a happy camper….Not sure what too do either…

  5. They continue to call everyday to my cell phone is annoying from phone number 972-564-8764, say this Tanika from capitol arbitration for documents and a complaint sent to her for check fraud allegation of my behalf and then before these documents can be filled against me I have to contact her to set up arrangements before legal actions is reported against my social security number and my date of birth to call the number of the arbitration office 877-373-6519 ext 309 referred to case number 325124 and that at this time i have being legally notified.

please i need them to stop calling, now they are calling my husband and my sister…

  6. These people wouldn’t leave me alone about a 10 year old debt until I hired a company to help me deal with it (Steven at Credit Repair 888-986-1534). it took me a little time but I finally got these bottom feeders to piss off.

  7. I show a debt on my credit report. I decided to call them to get the exact amount I may owe, but the phone number I have is actually a number for AT&T. 800-207-3081. I’m currently trying to reach the Creditor they say I owe to see if this is legit. If so, I’ll pay them directly and not NCO. Just hope that I can get it off my credit report!

  8. NCO has called me 5 times in 3 weeks. The first 4 calls were from 800-448-9570. The 5th call came from a “NJ” number 201-918-4570 (I have a NJ phone number). They call at 7am. I have never answered. They leave no information pertinant to me: not my name, not where I live, not the debt, nothing. I have no debt. My credit report is uber clean. How do I get them to stop?

  9. I just got called by 877-252-4535 it was NCO I could barely understand the lady because of her accent and she didn’t say what it was for. My debts are being taken care of so I know I have none that concerns them.

  11. 888-899-6031
They didnt even call me, they went directly to my husbands cell!

  12. These people have no standing to collect a debt. What you need to do is send the cease and desist letter as mentioned, with a twist. Demand the ink signed contract with them, and this is the key, that you entered into a contract with them.
Give them thirty days. They will not be able to produce this. Then send a certified letter to the original creditor asking for a letter stating settlement received. If they sold the debt to one of these sharks, they have a record of settlement. Then demand they remove these listings from your credit report and further any action on the account, and iny inquiries soft or hard will involve a legal action, or just the action of the fines due under federal law for these practices. Take the offensive. No dry ink contract, no standing. And it is that simple.

  13. The new number is (866)853 -4965. They like to call about 10:30/10:45am in the morning central time hoping to be able to grab you. They leave vague voicemails and not much else. I’ve checked my credit report, nothing from these bastards on it.

  14. I have a common name. And in the phone book. NCO Financial has called my home
3,454 times in the past 3 years.

A Mrs Ogle is one of the names mentioned in their calls.

The calls start at 8pm and go to 9pm Mon-Sun

Day after day, they never stop, they are assholes. I cannot use my Landline because of their calls.

And no, I do not owe anyone any monies

  15. they called me this morning. Put me on hold. then they asked me for my birthday, my mailing address, my social. I refused to give them any information except my name.
They said they will not disclose why they called if I don’t provide my personal data. So I have no clue why they called.

  16. Got a call from someone saying they had a personal matter to discuss with my husband. Call came from 800-448-9570. She said she was from NCO but when asked, she said those letters didn’t stand for anything. Said she couldn’t tell me what it was about because it was a personal matter between her and my husband and she was very snippy. Her contact info for him to call back is: 888-889-6647, ext. 4335. I know it isn’t anything recent that could be making them call. If it is anything, it has to be over 10 years old. Sounds like a scam, as we do not have any debt we are aware of, and we do not own any credit cards.

  17. The only way to get them to stop is to call the CEO of NCO Financial, Mr. Ron Rittenmeyer. He lives in Plano, TX and his phone is (972) 618-9572. Call and ask for someone in NCO that can get you removed from the list. When I called him he was annoyed with me for calling him at his home. I told him that I get calls all the time thanks to his company! So I post this so that everyone can give him a taste of his own medicine.

  18. NCO KEEPS CALLING ALL HOURS DAY & NIGHT, EVEN ON OUR CELL PHONES, WE DO NOT GET ANY BILLS FROM THEM, BUT GET THESE PHONE CALLS.
CAN WE GET A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THEM THEY ARE BULLIES & BULLIES NEEDS TO BE IN PRISON.

PHONE NUMBER THAT IS CALLING US
    866-853-4965

  19. Something showed up on my credit report. I called the number 800-709-8610 for days and left numerous messages with no return call.

SO… i decided to alter the number a little 800-709-8610 BINGO!!! NCO . I’ve been on hold for 30 minutes. Its funny how they harrass you, but when you have something to say… no response.

    1. When calling the main NCO line, press the search button and look up the following folks:

      Lisa Signore VP
      Bette Capaldo VP
      Jim Scott VP
      Dina Sha Altiel AVP (?)

Bug thrse folks enough and you will get somewhere (if they have not left NCO as of yet)

For fun, you may want to call Ron Whermyer NC in Charlotte, NC 704) 523-8444, (800) 727-8444 or Bobbi Caggianelli in Lenaxa, KS (913) 451-3333.

      Good luck!

  20. I paid my debt of $193 in 2010. When I ran my credit score in 2011 it was still there. I vaguely remembered paying it, but just wanted it off my report so I paid again. I just pulled my credit report and they are still on there as a delinquent account for the same amount of money. I disputed it, but the worst part is they are the only ones keeping my score lower than I should have. What should I do further to be sure they are removed from my report for good!

  21. Yes, I’m getting calls from NCO, too: from my phone company’s Privacy Director service. Message says, “Call back 800-786-3930 ~ Refer to ID #——“. Mine is a legitimate debt, medical, which I am appealing through my insurance. I tried to call NCO just to tell them this, but the woman who replied to the message I left had no knowledge of NCO. She said she was with “Thompson Law” and asked if I was looking for help with credit card debt. When I said no, she wished me luck in finding NCO!
I’m mystified, any help appreciated. I must say, though, they may have divisions involved in scams but they are also a legitimate, if unsavory, collection agency. See Wikipedia for an outline directory of the company, its subsidiaries, and its history. I do not think it is safe to just ignore IF you actually owe.

  22. I never got a phone call from them but when I looked at my bank statement last month I had a withdrall of $20 fron NCO. there phone # 800-550-9619 was with there name. I checked back and there was more taken $20 in Jan. $10 in April, and $20 in May. When I called them they said it wasn’t them. My bank gave me back the last $20 but the others were too far back. I don’t check my bank acct. that often but I guess I will now. I’m having to file a complaint with the PA. Att. Gen. Office. During this time I had changed my bank card # twice but they still were able to take money out. HOW?

    1. Get your bank to change your account number. They are probably running it as an e-check.

    2. File a formal complaint with your state banking commission and the PA Attorney General as well as your state AG.

  23. i was wondering if nco can clean your bank account if its not your money if you have a bill and are tyring to settle with them i wanna pay my account but i wanna sellte for a lesser amount

  24. New # 1-866-637-0271 (to watch out for)

Leave only a vague message to call them back, with no info as to who they are calling, why, and on what matter. BLEH!

  25. When they call and you answer, or if you call back, tell them you are from a State that requires you to disclose recording of telephone conversations and you are recording this call…. They hang up.

  26. They have called me numerous times looking for a family member I’ve had contact with only a couple times in the last 6 years. I spoke to them twice, both times asking how they got MY unlisted phone number (they won’t tell me), and requesting them to remove me from their database. Still getting calls. Came from 888-475-6741.

  27. Here are two additional numbers: 877-847-0092 and 877-273-3495. Both numbers are from the same call. One is the number that my voicemail told me the call was coming from when I pressed “5” on my cell phone; the other is the number that the person leaving the message gave for me to call back. This is the first call from NCO in recent memory. It came about a week after getting a call from another, similarly disreputable collection agency called Financial Services Inc. I have not received calls from either company before and have not incurred any new debts recently. Either both companies use the same practices of searching public records to get people’s numbers to call; or perhaps an equally unscrupulous third party is selling this information to both bad collectors.

  28. Not sure how they received my cell phone number, yet two weeks ago from this date, they have started to call me. Very few people have my cell number, I do not understand how they have gotten it. Following are the numbers they have called me from: 763-200-6592, 609-373-1904, 832-301-125. All three numbers are within the last 7 days. I have no debt. They are barking up the wrong tree.

  29. these ppl called me at 8:59 am and it was some guy i could hardly understand he told me to hold for his associate he put me on hold for like 10 mins i got tired of waiting so i hung up. what is the deal with them callin me and put me on hol. i dont even know who the heck these ppl are they are calling from a 1-800-8774127

  30. So I went to go look at my credit report and I see nco does not have an amount nore any contact info nothing but says its active. Tried contacting them and still nothing what do I do how can I get that removed for my credit report?!? All the stuff I have in collections I have either payed off or I’m paying off so I have no clue wat this could be!
